About Ms. McKenna
I am so excited to get to know all of you this year! I'm sure you are curious about me too so let me introduce myself.
This will be my seventh year teaching at Williams School. At Williams, I have taught 3rd, 4th and now 5th grade! Before coming here, I taught 5th grade in Natick, MA. I love teaching at Williams and am so lucky to be surrounded by such a wonderful community.
I received my Masters in Teaching from Simmons College in Boston and a B.A. from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. I also have a degree in Violin Making and Restoration from The North Bennet Street School in Boston. I spent several years in a Boston violin shop doing restoration and repair work before going to school to be a teacher. I love working with wood and using my skills to do home improvements on my 102 year old house.
I am married and have two children, Riley and Finn. Riley, our daughter, is a sixth-grader this year. She loves soccer, playing cello and rock climbing. Finn, our son, is a third-grader. He is a wise guy who loves to play chess, piano and tricks on his family. We live in Arlington with our three cats, Frallie, Cricket, and Cartwheel Bob. Can you guess who named Cartwheel Bob?
Here are a few of my favorite things:
Season: Spring
Food: raspberries
Color: blue or green, depending on the day
Place: the beach
Activity: sailing, reading, cooking, swimming, woodworking
Books: The Penderwicks, The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles, Brown Girl Dreaming
Subject: math
Secret talent: I can wiggle my ears
